Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) Changes parties----AGAIN
Senator Arlen Specter has announced his intentions of switching to the Democrat party.
What a surprise, coming from a man who had started his political career as a Democrat and has a fairly consistent record of voting Democrat and speaking against Republicans.
Hs first position was as assistant district attorney as a Democrat shortly after graduating from Yale law school and opening his own law firm. In 1965 he ran for district attorney as a registered Democrat on the Republican ticket. Only after winning the election did he change his party affiliation.
What kind of Republican did Specter become? Remember when Robert Bork was a nominee for the supreme court? Specters opposition was one of the leading causes for Borks failure to sit on the supreme court. Fast forward to President Clintons impeachment. Where was Specter? On the side against impeachment. On virtually every issue, with the exception of the Patriot Act, he has spoken out in opposition to President Bush. The final straw came when he was one of three Senators to break Republican ranks and vote for the the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 on February 10, 2009.
Although he stands with the Republicans on a few issues, such as crime and gun control, he is firmly with the Democrats as far as abortion (he supports pro-choice), affirmative action, minimum wage, immigration (he is supporting amnesty), and labor unions (he supports card check). He was one of only four Republicans to vote against the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act. In 1995 he was the only
Republican to vote to limit tax cuts to individuals with incomes of
less than one million dollars.
A man of his word and strong integrity perhaps? Perhaps not. On March 18, 2009, Specter denied rumors that he was considering
switching parties, pledging to run "as a Republican on the Republican
ticket". That changed today when he confirmed he will run as a Democrat in the 2010 election. Nope. As he did early on in his career, he merely switches parties when it is expedient to do so.
How does a person wake up one day and "discover" he is no longer a Republican or Democrat? There are core beliefs and principals involved here; major philosophical differences between the two parties, and these are not changed as easily as shirts. Or perhaps they are with some people?

I say good riddance. They can have him.

I think it's great that Arlen "single bullet" Specter has finally come out of the closet!!! He has come out just in time to insure that he will go to his grave as the left wing, perverted Democrat he always hidden. What a great legacy for Arlen!.. Even though Arlen doesn't know where he is or who he is talking to, Arlen decides to suck up to Barack Hussein Obama two minutes to midnight before he checks out forever!! .....I guess Arlen is sure Barack will raise him from the dead!!
