Change.gov
Earlier I referenced Change.gov, the web site of our Presumptive President-elect. I believe it is everyones responsibility to read this site, become familiar with the content of this site, and pass it on to your friends and relatives.
The content found within those web pages go far and beyond anything previously written in Obamas Blueprint for Change or his campaign speeches. Frankly I'm not convinced some of this stuff will even hold up in our PRESENT supreme court as being constitutional.
It is important to read it now before it gets changed. And it is being changed. For example when I posted the first article it read as follows:
The Obama Administration will call on Americans to serve in order to meet the nation’s challenges. President-Elect Obama will expand national service programs like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps and will create a new Classroom Corps to help teachers in underserved schools, as well as a new Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, and Veterans Corps. Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by developing a plan to require 50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year. Obama will encourage retiring Americans to serve by improving programs available for individuals over age 55, while at the same time promoting youth programs such as Youth Build and Head Start.
As this information became disseminated, it changed to reflect:
The Obama Administration will call on Americans to serve in order to meet the nation’s challenges. President-Elect Obama will expand national service programs like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps and will create a new Classroom Corps to help teachers in underserved schools, as well as a new Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, and Veterans Corps. Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by setting a goal that all middle school and high school students do 50 hours of community service a year and by developing a plan so that all college students who conduct 100 hours of community service receive a universal and fully refundable tax credit ensuring that the first $4,000 of their college education is completely free. Obama will encourage retiring Americans to serve by improving programs available for individuals over age 55, while at the same time promoting youth programs such as Youth Build and Head Start.
They are cleaning up the references, but they still missed one reference on the Service.gov page:
Require 100 Hours of Service in College: Obama and Biden will establish a new American Opportunity Tax Credit that is worth $4,000 a year in exchange for 100 hours of public service a year.
The above changes are courtesy of (Hat tip: bkgodfrey.) Little Green Footballs, as I had caught the original copy, but missed the change.
I guess they figured out mandatory service without pay is called servitude.
Why is this important? Why shouldn't Obama change things as needed? The version that is written right now is the version he BELIEVES in; this is his true self speaking and the voices of his advisers. And his true selfs voice is alarming.

Hey, Outrider, I would be deeply appreciative AND it could serve as reserve backup IF you were to go to where those Change.gov pages you downloaded are, Ctrl-A to select them all, ZIP them, and email a copy of the zipped package to me!
Thanks in advance, and STILL like your blog!
