President Ahmadinejad says Israel won't survive

President Ahmadinejad of Iran again posturizes on the subject of the state of Israel stating the state would not survive, even IF they gave up land for a Palestinian state.  "I have heard some say the idea of Greater Israel has expired," Ahmadinejad said. "I say that the idea of lesser Israel has expired, too."  This is in reference to the goals of a Greater Israel that many Israelis wanted using land the Palestinians want for their state.  This concept has now been abandoned, with the idea of a Palestinian state using the West Bank and Gaza on either side of Israel.  President Ahmadinejad again called the Holocaust a fake and claimed Israel is conducting a holocaust on the Palestinian people.

He went on to criticize the UN nuclear watchdog agency, stating they have no right to consider the documents the U.S. has provided the UN concerning Iran's nuclear ambitions.  The UN International Atomic Energy Agency (UNIAEA) stated Monday that Iran has blocked the UN investigations into the allegations that Iran is attempting to make nuclear weapons.  The inquiry was deadlocked.  President Ahmadinejad repeated the now ubiquitous response the nuclear power is for peaceful purposes and for only electricity production.

(I will within the week try to post a column regarding the differences between peaceful, nuclear electricity production and weapons grade nuclear production that Iran is engaged in at Natanz, Iran)

Interestingly enough, President Ahmadinejad will be in NYC for the UN General Assembly next week.  According to Agence France Presse, he has offered to debate the U.S.Presidential candidates.

Along with his visit, NYC will be treated to a protest Rally on Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, to protest the presence of Iran's President Ahmadinejad at the United Nations, and to oppose his nuclear weapons program.   This is the rally that Sen Clinton was asked to speak as well as Gov Palin.   Sen Clinton dropped out when she discovered Gov Palin would attend. Sen Biden was then asked and in turn declined due to previous commitments.  At that time Gov Palin was uninvited. (almost like an episode of "As the world turns") The following are some of the sponsors of this rally:

The National Coalition to Stop Iran Now
The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations
United Jewish Communities
UJA-Federation of New York
The Jewish Council for Public Affairs
The Jewish Community Relations Council of New York

It is a pity certain people could not put their country before their politics though.  It would have made a grand statement to Iran and the world if both Republicans and Democrats attended in solidarity in a rally against the policies of President Ahmadinejad and Ayatollah Khameini of Iran.
